Het Atelier Rijksbouwmeester heeft beeldend kunstenaar Bastienne Kramer uitgenodigd een kunstwerk te realiseren voor de nieuwbouw van de Justitiële Jeugdinrichting De Maasberg in Overloon. In de opdrachtomschrijving werd gevraagd de specifieke locaties visueel met elkaar te verbinden en bij de totstandkoming van de kunstopdracht samen te werken met de jeugdige bewoners.
De structuur van deze jeugdinrichting bepaalde het visuele en functionele vertrekpunt van het ontwerp. De beoogde relatie tot de bewoners vormde de inhoudelijke invulling van het kunstwerk SCULPTURE OF FAME. De uitvoering werd gerealiseerd in samenwerking met de kunstenaar, twee studenten van de Gerrit Rietveld Academie, Amsterdam en ca 60 meisjes en jongens tussen de 12 en 18 jaar, die daar tijdelijk verbleven.

The Atelier Rijksbouwmeester (the studio of the Chief Government Architect) invited the artist Bastienne Kramer to produce an artwork for the new premises of the young offenders’ institution De Maasberg in Overloon. The concept of the commission included forging a visual link between the different locations, besides which the artist was asked to involve the young inmates in the creative process. The institution’s structure determined the visual and functional foundations of the design, and the projected relationship with the inmates inspired the content of the artwork SCULPTURE OF FAME. The artist was assisted in this project by two students at Gerrit Rietveld Academy of Art, Amsterdam, and by some sixty young people (girls and boys) in the 12 to 18 age group, all of whom were being detained temporarily at this institution.

Het kunstwerk bestaat uit meerdere sculpturen - body’s - die verspreid over het terrein geplaatst worden. De beelden vormen een markering in het landschap tijdens de dagelijkse weg van woongroep naar school en terug.
De body's vormen een imaginair contactpunten - onder andere door de afgebeelde bekenden - tussen de verschillende woongroepen, aangezien de bewoners van de zeven woongroepen elkaar nauwelijks tegen komen.

The artwork consists of several sculptures or ‘bodies’ placed in various places around the grounds. The images provide a demarcation in the landscape during the twice-daily journey between the young people’s residential groups and their school. ?The bodies constitute imaginary points of contact between the different groups – partly because of the familiar faces that are depicted – since it is quite rare for the residents of the seven groups to actually meet each other.
